'Craig Breen has won the S2000 World Rally Championship after his victory at the Rally de Espana today.

Waterford's Craig Breen won the World Rally Championship Academy title and a prizefund of half a million euro as the series went down to the very last stage in Wales. The 21 year old won the event and also managed to take the 14 stage wins needed to overtake the long time championship leader Estonia's Egor Kaur. The win is the most significant one for Craig who's only been rallying for two years.

Jessie Barr at Olympic Games (From Waterford Today>>)

The athletics at the Olympic Games start on August 3rd and will continue until August 12 th and once again Waterford has an athlete selected as we have had in every Olympics since 1980. Twenty three year old Jessie Barr from Ferrybank AC becomes the first athlete from that club to be an Olympian and while she is better known as a 400 Metres Hurdler it is in the 4 x 400 Metres Relay event she will compete and the heats of this are on Friday August 10th at 7.10 pm. She missed out by just 0 .45 of a second to make the (A) Standard for the 400 Metres Hurdles. countries took home gold medals and.
